The purpose of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church is to glorify God and to
proclaim God's revelation and salvation in Jesus Christ; to be a dynamic spiritual body empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue
the ministry of Jesus Christ in our church, community and throughout the world; and to lead all persons to trust and follow Him
as the way to God, and to support and enrich the lives of individual members.

Building and Grounds Committee
Responsible for maintaining proper care for all church properties, including the contracting and supervision of janitorial
and lawn maintenance.

Responsible for recommending additions, deletions and changes to the church's bylaws.

Central VA Baptist Association Executive Committee Representative
Attends quarterly executive meetings, taking an active part in representing this church in associational business.

Clerk & Assistant
Responsible for taking minutes of the church business meeting and recording all actions of the church. Responsible for keeping a member
registry (dates of admission, termination, deaths, and baptisms). The clerk shall maintain a current record of the Constitution and
Bylaws. The assistant clerk shall serve in the absence of the clerk.

Drama & Programs Committee
Responsible for planning, directing and recruiting programs that support the mission of the church.

Finance Committee
Responsible for overseeing expenditures of the church. We monitor each line item of the Approved Budget on a regular basis to be sure
we are staying within approved guidelines or have authorization to exceed the Budget. During the year various unexpected and
unbudgeted needs for funds are brought to our committee for our consideration. We are responsible for presenting a Proposed Budget each
year to be considered by the congregation in the January Business Meeting. The time committment is about six to eight 1 hour and 1.5
hour meeting a year.

Financial Secretary
Responsible for keeping an accurate record of and deposit the appropriate accounts of all monies received by the church.

Flower & Decorations Committee
Responsible for providing weekly flowers for church services and special seasonal decorations for the church.

Historian
Serves as the custodian of the church records. The historian shall compile and preserve material related to the history of the church.
The historian shall receive and make disposition of all current records and files of the clerk, officers, organizations and committees of
the church, including minutes and membership roles.

Homecoming Committee
Responsible for planning and inviting guests for the annual homecoming Sunday.

Long Range Planning
Responsible for developing plans for the use of all church properties and buildings.

Media (library) Committee
Responsible for maintaining the church library. This includes ordering new material, maintaining system for check in and out and
organizing materials.

Moderator
Presides at church business meetings. The deacon chair acts in the moderator's absence.

Nominating Committee
Recommend all church officers and committee members for church approval. This committee is selected by the deacons.

Personnel Committee
Help the church attract and retain top quality employees and to help employees grow spiritually and to achieve their full potential.
The Committee's responsibility is to assist the church in matters related to all employed personnel by determining staffing needs
and handling such personal issues as salaries, benefits, job descriptions, and annual reviews. Time committment:
About six meetings per year - quarterly plus additional time for staff evaluations in the fall.

Preschool Committee
Supports and directs the preschool program. This includes hiring of personnel and payroll. Reviews curriculum to ensure it aligns
with the mission of providing a stimulating environment where children learn about themselves, the world around them and God's love.

Recreational Activities
Plans and organizes activities that encourage activities to bring church families together. Fellowship through fun!

Social Committee
Maintains the running of the kitchen, keeps supplies purchased, including items for Sunday morning fellowship. Plan for any
church events, social, funerals, celebrations.

Technology Committee
Maintains internet and other information technologies. Helps to research the best use of our technological resources, maintains and updates
web site, utilizes current technology to communicate with the public.

Treasurer & Building Fund Treasurer
Retains custody of all funds of the church. The duty of the treasurers is to pay all salaries authorized by the church, and shall have
the responsibility of securing adequate records of all receipts and disbursements. The treasurers will make a quarterly report to the
church and shall serve as member on the finance committee.

Usher Committee
Responsible for setting a schedule to cover greeters for church services.

Vacation Bible School
Responsibilities include choosing and ordering and organizing all material (10 hours), recruiting approximately 30 workers to serve
during VBS week (3 hours), organizing and running a VBS volunteer training workshop (5 hours), decorating the vestibule and
sanctuary (2 hours), taking pictures and preparing a slide show and picnic (3 hours), and being at VBS continually to organize the
paperwork, oversee, and troubleshoot (20 hours).
"For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ,
and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given us: prophecy, in proportion to
faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in
diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness." -Romans 12:4-8
